Specialty Windows: Options for Beauty

Many times we fall in love with a home for the amazing windows and light that a grand room offers. Two story walls of windows, open spances of glass bringing the outside in are so attractive and archtecturally appealing when we are deciding on a new home.  Fast forward a few months and those windows are causing a few issues that we are not as happy with, like oppressive heat and sun, glare on the LED TV at just the right time as to interfere with prime football watching, fading on the textiles in the room, or even that the stand of trees in the backyard has been removed.  We have heard all these reasons and more when the request comes for help to tame the windows but preserve their beauty.
Not to fear, there are some lovely solutions for specialty windows, many in fact.  Some filter light, others block it out.  All insulate, some more than others--depending on your needs and taste.  After all, this is about custom window treatments. Each of these specialty shapes is made specifically for your windows.  We take great care to fit each shade and often make templates to assure a perfect fit.
Rectangular windows have the most options and shades for these windows can be fashioned to open and close, even from the top down. Motorize these shades for the ultimate in convenience, especially if they are up high and beyond your reach.
Specialty shapes like these triangular and trapezoid windows are not a problem--we can cover them with light filtering, glare reducing Silhouettes to allow you to preserve your view.
Even art-like architecture like these circular windows below can be enhanced by just the right treatment,  The top openings of this beautiful window are accented even more with the lower windows treated with Duettes.  What do you think?
If you are a traditionalist and love the beauty of natural wood, how about a specialty shutter for your  arhed windows?

If you have a challenging group of windows that are in need of a solution for beauty and practicality, we offer in home consultations to discuss the possibilities.  Or you may visit our showroom at 26 Webb Street, Suite 5, in Historic Roswell, 30075

Hunter Douglas Pirouette--The Best of Both Worlds

Pictures speak volumes, and the illustration of the elegance of soft filtered light in a spa-like, fabulous bath say more than I can about the impact of the right window treatment.  Many of us need our window treatments to do more than just one thing--not just provide privacy, or just block the glare, or just look lovely as a finishing touch to our decor.
In the case of the Pirouette, you can have it all.  The shades open to reveal sheer fabric that reduces glare, filters UV rays, and provides a degree of daytime privacy.  If you choose a subtle color as above, they blend in with your trim and become part of the architecture of your room.
If you have a stunning lake or mountain view, this does not have to be sacrificed--you can see through the sheer. Best of all is that the treatment raises and rolls into the headrail at the top of the window frame to virtually disappear when not needed.  No wonder so many of our lake, golf course, and mountain view homeowners have opted for this fabulous window treatment.

Worth mentioning--in the room above, the direct sunlight was likely fading this richly colored oriental rug.  With the addition of the Pirouette, there is now some UV protection to preserve the rug, while still permitting a view out the window.

We offer in home consultations if you would like to learn more about how you can have both beauty and functionality at your windows.  Or you may visit our showroom at 26 Webb Street, Suite 5, in Historic Roswell, 30075

Hunter Douglas Luminettes--Modern Drapery for your Windows

In today's decorative quest for clean, simple, and a bit modern window coverings, Luminettes have a number of great choices for your windows.  At times, especially in the suburbs, the whole idea of a vertical has a bad image.  "Oh no, not those noisy verticals with the clanky chain at the bottom."  Believe me that is not the case with these beautiful modern draperies for your large or small windows. This elegant bedroom featuring the drapery option is testament to this.  How lovely is this?
If you desire a sheer to filter light or provide a daytime privacy option, layering is a possibility.
For those of you downsizing and moving to smaller quarters in a condo, a finishing touch of a drapery rod and finial will provide the detail of modern drapery but with a traditional touch. The rod is a paint finished drapery pole equipped with the track needed for a smooth gliding open and close over large windows.

I've worked with clients who have excitedly moved into their high rise condo in Midtown, complete with a spectacular view of downtown.  After a less than restful few nights of non stop lights, then a consultation for drapery to block light, but preserve the view is often requested.
Here is a great series of photos to illustrate the wonderful effect of these modern sheers.  First open to the view.
Then with the sheer fabric open to filter light, cut glare, and provide modest daytime privacy.
Then finally with the vanes closed, offering privacy and light blocking.  There are variations that provide even more darkness if that is your preference.
How lovely---covering a window with a handsome drapery rod to finish the look.
If you desire a more modern sleek look, then the color coordinated headrail may suit you.  In either case, these modern, beautiful draperies are a lovely alternative for your updated decor.

And of course these treatments can be motorized for operation with a remote!

If you would like more information, please ask for an in home consultation. We are happy to show you the possibilities for your windows.  Or you may visit our showroom at 26 Webb Street, Suite 5, in Historic Roswell, GA 30075

Linen and Blue

Natural linen fabric drapery provides a common denominator to pull two adjacent rooms together with grace and simplicity. It's no wonder this is the fabric of choice today.
Note that the sofa and accessories in the family room, the dining room chairs, and all wall finishes were in place when we started the drapery design process.  I think we did well creating a well planned and executed look, don't you?

Castle Walls by Benjamin Moore and natural linen drapery.

The same linen fabric on a faux finished wall created using paint in alternating satin and flat.

The drapery fabric these two rooms is the same natural linen.  Amazing how different it looks with a contrasting wall color verses a tone on tone.  We changed the drapery hardware in the dining room to a  dressier look and scale than the family room trim wrought iron.

Simplicity, serenity, and a cohesive flow from one room to another.
The clients were delighted!
